OPERATIC ENGAGEMENTS

Predrag's engagements as the conductor of opera includes performances of:

  • "L'Ilcoronazione di Poppea" by Claudio Monteverdi, with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre
  • "La Serva Padrona" by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, with New Trinity Baroque
  • "Dido & Aeneas" by Henry Purcell, with New Trinity Baroque, as well as the Studio for Early Music Belgrade
  • "La púrpura de la rosa" (assistant to Andrew Lawrence-King) by Torrejón y Velasco, at the 2004 Amherst Early Music Festival

In 2002, he recorded Henry Purcell's opera "Dido & Aeneas" featuring Evelyn Tubb as Dido, Thomas Meglioranza as Aeneas, Julia Matthews as Belinda and others, with the Chorus and Orchestra of New Trinity Baroque, performing on period instruments. The recording has been released on Edition Lilac label, and has received numerous reviews throughout the world.

Future conducting operatic engagements will include the staged and semi-staged performances of the following operas:

  • "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  • "Acis & Galatea" by George Frideric Handel
  • "Pimpinone" by Georg Philipp Telemann

A trained singer, Predrag Gosta also took part in many operas as a vocal soloist, including the roles of Pluto in Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo", Top in Aaron Copland's "The Tender Land", Sorcerer in Purcell's "Dido & Aeneas" and "Don Quixotte", and others.
